A family law firm sold fixed-fee uncontested divorces, but clients without legal training struggled with the court forms. We built a guided online platform that takes a couple from eligibility check to signed, court-ready documents, with an AI legal assistant on every screen and an attorney a click away.
| Industry | Service | Status | Platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Legal (family law) | Uncontested divorce, three service tiers | Validated end to end in development | AWS, with a multi-model AI assistant |
A US family law firm offers fixed-fee uncontested divorces. The process depended on court forms written in legal language and completed by people with no legal background, which caused friction for clients and cost for the firm.
Clients didn't understand the forms. Fields about custody, support and residency confused people, and many stalled or dropped off.
Routine questions took staff time. Attorneys and staff spent hours answering the same questions about the forms.
The process was fragmented. Intake, document preparation, spouse review, payment and signing were all separate manual steps.
The funnel was invisible. The firm couldn't see where clients dropped off or which marketing sources brought them in.
We designed one guided online journey that supports the client at every step and brings in an attorney whenever they need one.
A legal assistant on every screen. A chatbot answers questions about the form and its legal terms in plain language. It draws on the state's legal material under attorney oversight, and gives legal information, not case advice.
An attorney on demand. A client who is still unsure, or has a specific issue, can book a call with an attorney straight from the platform.
Both spouses in the same system. The second spouse is invited to review the answers, agree or propose changes, and sign, without leaving the platform.
Three service tiers through one intake. A self-service tier for couples who fully agree and will file themselves, an attorney-supported tier that adds review and signing support, and an attorney-led tier for couples who still need to negotiate terms.
| Capability | What was delivered |
|---|---|
| Eligibility and leads | Eligibility screening, lead capture, Google and Apple sign-in, and a built-in attorney consultation calendar |
| Guided intake | A ten-section questionnaire with autosave, validation and a final review; clients can start before creating an account |
| Legal assistant | A chatbot that knows which screen the client is on and what they've answered, streams its replies, and offers attorney booking |
| Document generation | Court documents built from the client's answers, a personalized preview, and a controlled edit-and-regenerate cycle |
| Secure payments | Hosted card checkout, so card data never touches the platform, with coupon support and clear handling of declined cards |
| Spouse collaboration | Email invitation, section-by-section review (agree or propose a change), turn-based status and notifications |
| Electronic signature | Approval and in-platform signing for both spouses, a secure witness link, mistake flagging and download of the signed set |
| Growth and analytics | Conversion-tested landing pages, city-level SEO pages, and campaign attribution passed into the CRM |
| Quality and safety | Mobile-first design, secure sessions, role-based routing, and funnel changes behind switches that can be turned off |
The legal assistant screens each question before answering, follows fixed prompt rules, is rate-limited, and returns a standard message for questions it won't answer.
The complete client journey, from first visit to a signed, file-ready case, runs in one platform and has been validated end to end in the development environment.
| Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| One platform, end to end | Eligibility, intake, documents, payment, spouse review and signing happen in one place instead of separate manual steps |
| Three tiers, one intake | The self-service and attorney-supported tiers are fully supported through signing; the attorney-led tier hands over to the legal team after payment |
| Answers in the moment | Clients get answers inside the form instead of contacting the firm, and can book an attorney without leaving the platform |
| Measurable funnel | Marketing sources are tracked into the CRM, and funnel experiments can be rolled back safely |
Less manual work per case. Guidance, document preparation, spouse review and signing are automated, so staff and attorney time per case goes down.
Revenue that scales. A fixed-fee service sold online at three price points, with attorney time kept for higher-value work.
More clients finish. In-form guidance, intake that starts before sign-up and one-click sign-in are designed to keep clients moving to completion.
Growth based on data. Lead sources are tracked, experiments can be reversed, and the same pattern can be extended to other states.
